2017 Board Meeting & Study Session DatesBoard of Commissioners

The Champaign Park District is a special district of the local government with its own financial and legal responsibilities. It is governed by five elected residents of Champaign who give their services to the community. The Champaign Park District Board of Commissioners meets twice a month to conduct the business affairs of the District. The Regular Board meetings are held on the 2nd Wednesday of the month at 7 p.m. and Study Session meetings are held on the 4th Wednesday of the month at 5:30 p.m. All meetings are held at the Bresnan Meeting Center, 706 Kenwood Road, Champaign, Illinois , unless otherwise posted. From time to time special meetings of the Board may be called to discuss special or emergency issues. Residents are invited to attend and are welcome to make suggestions or comments to improve the programs or facilities offered.

Consolidated Election on April 4, 2017
There will be two Commissioner positions open for candidates seeking election to the Champaign Park District Board of Commissioners at the Consolidated Election on April 4, 2017. The Park Commissioners are elected for six year terms. Candidates must be citizens of the United States, at least 18 years old, registered voters, and residents of the State of Illinois and Champaign Park District for at least one year prior to the election. Park Commissioners serve without compensation.

Nominating petitions and election materials are available at the Champaign Park District Administrative Office in the Bresnan Meeting Center, 706 Kenwood Road, Champaign, Illinois. The office is open Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., excluding holidays.

Nominating petitions may be circulated beginning September 20, 2016. Candidates must have at least 245 signatures of qualified voters of the Champaign Park District to be placed on the ballot. The filing dates for petitions are December 12-19, 2016. Petitions are to be filed at the Park District office between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.

The election materials for potential candidates for the offices of Park Commissioners are provided as a public service. All efforts are made to ensure that the information is accurate. However, candidates are responsible for ensuring that all documents are compliant with all appropriate election laws.
