Anime & Manga: How to Draw Characters

Ages 12+
Study the dynamic and imaginative art of Japan’s greatest and current Anime (cartoons) & Manga (comic) artists. Learn the techniques and materials used by professional artists in Japan and American, as we explore and discuss examples. Discover ways to draw people and characters expressively and accurately. Learn drawing techniques and character building to bring your characters to life. This class may be repeated to continue developing skills. A supply list of around $30 is required.

Create My Own Manga

Ages 12+
Write, create, and illustrate your very own manga story! We’ll study popular and timeless manga and develop our own story and characters. Learn how to write, pace, and storyboard your stories, and create
dynamic and descriptive pages and covers. A supply list of approximately $30 will print at the time of registration.

Art Beast

Ages 5-11
Students create new and interesting works of art using recycled materials in this fun and affordable workshop. All materials are supplied and new projects are tried in each 2-hour studio time slot.

Comics for Kids

Ages 6-11
Explore the world of comics! Comic strips, comic books, and even manga will be our creative inspiration. Students will create characters and build stories and worlds. Learn new drawing and discovery techniques to bring our stories to life and share with others. A supply list of around $15 is required.

Paint Your Favorite Things – NEW!

Ages 18+ | Level: Beginner/Intermediate
Still life painting is an exceptional way to explore the fundamentals of paint and painting. The focus of this workshop is direct observation of simple still life. Expect to complete approximately two paintings in this 6-week class. Subjects will include a favorite clothing item, books, pottery, kitchen tools, etc. Students will examine composition, color mixing, and how to effectively handle paint and brushwork. A supply list of approximately $100 will print at the time of registration. Supply list is dependent upon student’s current supplies (up to $100).

Beginning Watercolor Painting

Ages 14+
If you want to learn how to compose watercolor sketches outdoors or create amazing works indoors, you can grow in this exciting medium! Local illustrator Kelli Roos will guide you through all the materials
and techniques. Learn how to create your compositions as we explore landscape and still life subjects. Learn about your materials and how you can use them to achieve your artistic pursuits. We will explore and practice effective ways to control the watercolor paint to look how you desire it to bring your vision to life. This class is for teens and adults. A supply list of around $65 will print at the time of registration.

Cast Acrylic Monoprints – NEW!

Ages 18+ | Level: Beginner/Intermediate
Acrylic paint is malleable, flexible, and lifts easily off certain surfaces. This makes it the perfect medium to create cast monoprints. Learn about the possibilities as you cut, layer, or apply collage elements to make one-of-a-kind art. Plastic will be used as your printing plate and will be provided. A supply list of approximately $75 will print at the time of registration. The supply list will vary and is dependent upon student’s current acrylic supply.

The Themes of Spring

Ages 6-11
Using themes associated with spring (flowers and birds to name a few!)students will become familiar with the fundamentals of drawing and painting. They will learn how to use geometric shapes to construct images, experiment with mixing paint and more. Projects may include still life, landscape, or portraiture. A supply list of approximately $30 will print at the time of registration.

Sketch Your World

Ages 14+
Be creative on your own terms! Sketchbooks are a small, yet amazing creative  tool for you to express yourself anytime, anywhere. Learn techniques on how to see and draw the world around you quickly and expressively. We’ll learn ways to expand your creativity so you can create the world inside your head beautifully in the pages of your sketchbook. A supply list of approximately $6–$15 is required.
