ART BEAST
Ages 5-11
Students create new and interesting works of art using recycled materials in this fun and affordable workshop. All materials are supplied and new projects are tried in each 2-hour studio time slot.

COMICS FOR KIDS

Explore the world of comics! Comic strips, comic books, and even manga will be our creative inspiration. Students will create characters and build stories and worlds. Learn new drawing and discovery techniques to bring our stories to life and share with others. A supply list of around $15 will print at time of registration. Develop your child’s creativity, imagination, and self-expression through activities in music, creative drama, storytelling, crafts, and two/three dimensional art projects. ART IN ACTION
Ages 8-11 | Level:Beginner
Want to splatter some paint? Spin some art? Make art that moves? Try Art in Action! Learn to create art which moves and/or gives the impression of movement. We’ll discuss several famous artists such as Jackson Pollock and Alexander Calder, as well as use different mediums/objects to create a sense of movement in your artwork. One day the class will be held at West Side Park. A supply list of approximately $30 will print at the time of registration. There is a $25 non-refundable fee for this program.

COURAGEOUS COLLAGING
Ages 9-13 | Level: Beginner
Courageous collaging! In this class we will collect and use materials of different textures, colors, and patterns to construct various collage art projects. Come explore the world through the sense of touch and learn to use different materials to manipulate shapes and arrangements of various textures, forms, and color. Expect to get messy with: glue, buttons, tissue paper, twigs, feathers, felt, stickers, contact paper, corrugated cardboard, etc. A supply list of approximately $20 will print at the time of registration. ANIME & MANGA: HOW TO DRAW CHARACTERS
Ages 11+ | Level: Beginner/Intermediate
Study the dynamic and imaginative art of Japan’s greatest and current anime (cartoon) and manga (comic) artists. Learn the techniques and materials used by professional artists in Japan and America as we explore and discuss examples. Discover ways to draw people and characters expressively and accurately. Learn drawing techniques and character-building to bring your characters to life. This class may be repeated to continue developing skills. Colors and pop culture come together in Color Techniques! Learn and use basic color theory and techniques professional artists use to create their lush and colorful illustrations. We will explore how artists use lighting and how to apply them to create emotional effects. We will also engage in exercises to discover your own personal color style and how to express it! A supply list of approximately $50 will print at the time of registration. Prerequisite: Anime & Manga: How to Draw Characters. There is a $25 non-refundable fee for this program.

BEGINNING ACRYLIC PAINTING
Ages 18+ | Level: Beginner
Have you always wanted to learn how to paint, but didn’t know where to start? This class offers the basics of painting with acrylics. Students will use a limited palette to create a still life painting from observation. Topics covered will include care and use of brushes, fundamental factors of color, color mixing, palette layout, terminology, and more. Create wonderful works of art with this exciting medium! Local illustrator Kelli Roos will guide you through all the materials and techniques. We will practice effective ways to control the watercolor paint to bring your vision to life!
