Art Smart Kids

Ages 3-5 not in Kindergarten
Develop your child’s creativity, imagination, and self-expression through activities in music, creative drama, story telling, crafts, two and three dimensional art projects and field trips. Mid-session registration is accepted based on availability. Registration for the 2019-2020 school year began March 18.

Art Beast

Ages 5-11
Put your creativity to work using recycled resources, glue, paint, and more! We supply the materials, you supply the creativity. New fun ideas will be posted in each 2-hour studio time slot. Let your inner art beast loose with us!

Comics for Kids

Ages 6-11
Explore the world of comics! Comic strips, comic books, and even manga will be our creative inspiration. Students will create characters and build stories and worlds. Learn new drawing and discovery techniques to bring our stories to life and share with others. A supply list of around $15 is required.

DRAWING FOR KIDS

Ages 7-12 | Level: Beginner
Kids will explore the exciting skill of drawing through age appropriate discoveries and lessons. Use of drawing, shapes, and other innovative activities will grow your child’s ability to see the world around them and great spatial awareness with confidence. A supply list of approximately $15 will print at the time of registration. There is a $25 non-refundable fee for this program.


SKETCH YOUR WORLD

Ages 14+ | Level: Beginner
Be creative on your own terms! Sketchbooks are a small, yet amazing creative tool for you to express yourself anytime, anywhere. Learn techniques on how to see and draw the world around you quickly and expressively. We’ll learn ways to expand your creativity so you can create the world inside your head beautifully in the pages of your sketchbook. A supply list of approximately $15 will print at the time of registration. There is a $25 non-refundable fee for this program.


Fundamentals of Drawing

Ages 16+
Strengthen your drawing and painting abilities! Local illustrator Kelli Roos teaches you proven techniques to draw still life’s with confidence. Various exercises will help you see to create highlights and shadows and capture a 3D feel. Additional exercises will develop your ability to create your own compositions. A supply list of approximately $35 will print at the time of registration. There is a $25 non-refundable fee for this program.

Anime & Manga: How to Draw Characters

Ages 11+
Study the dynamic and imaginative art of Japan’s greatest and current Anime (cartoons) & Manga (comic) artists. Learn the techniques and materials used by professional artists in Japan and American, as we explore and discuss examples. Discover ways to draw people and characters expressively and accurately. Learn drawing techniques and character building to bring your characters to life. This class may be repeated to continue developing skills. A supply list of around $30 is required.

ANIME & MANGA: INTERMEDIATE CHARACTER

Ages 11+ | Level: Intermediate
Grow your drawing skills and take your love of anime and manga to the next level. Students will learn the secrets of drawing accurate clothing and using light and shadow to increase the emotional appeal of your artwork. This class will develop your creativity skills to make dramatic single character and group illustrations. Learn how artists develop and apply their individual style to their work. This class may be repeated to continue developing skills. A supply list of around $35 will print at the time of registration.

Prerequisite: Anime & Manga: How to Draw Characters

There is a $25 non-refundable fee for this program.


ANIME & MANGA: COLOR TECHNIQUES

Ages 11+ | Level: Intermediate
Colors and pop culture come together in Color Techniques! Learn and use basic color theory and techniques professional artists use to create their lush and colorful illustrations. We will explore how artists use lighting and how to apply them to create emotional effects. We will also engage in exercises to discover your own personal color style and how to express it! A supply list of up to $80 will print at the time of registration.

Prerequisite: Anime & Manga: How To Draw Characters.

There is a $25 non-refundable fee for this program.


EXPLORATIONS IN GENRES

Ages 18+ | Level: Beginner/Intermediate
In this six-week course, students will have the opportunity to sample a classic mix of painting genres: still life and landscape painting. Three weeks will be spent on each subject and students will work on small canvases and simple compositions. The basics of color mixing and paint handling will be addressed. New students can expect a materials list of approximately $120 while existing painters may need to augment their current supplies. The supply list will print at the time of registration.

There is a $35 non-refundable fee for this program.


EXPERIMENTAL DRAWING

Ages 18+ | Level: Beginner/Intermediate
If you are enthused about learning to draw or want to expand your skills, this class will allow you to explore a variety of approaches through an experimental lens. You will work with line, tone, texture, shape, and space and learn about composition. Projects include drawing from observation as well as from your imagination and students will work with a variety of materials. Supply list of approximately $30 will print at the time of registration. There is a $35 non-refundable fee for this program.

 


WATERCOLOR FOR THE HOLIDAYS

Ages 18+ | Level: Beginner
Learn how to use watercolor while creating colorful and fun seasonalthemed works! Follow basic step-by-step lessons to create cards, ornaments, paintings, and other crafty winter fun! All activities have one-on-one instruction from local illustrator Kelli Roos. A supply list of approximately $60 will print at the time of registration. There is a $35 non-refundable fee for this program.


 

Beginning Watercolor Painting

Ages 18+
Create wonderful works of art with this exciting medium through different materials and techniques. Learn how to create your compositions as we explore landscapes and still life subjects. Discover how to use materials to achieve your artistic pursuits. We will explore and practice effective ways to control the watercolor paint to bring your vision to life! A supply list of approximately $65 is required.
