Fall Special Events (September – January)

The Champaign Park District offers a wide array of special events throughout the year. Events are listed by season under the “Special Events” tab. New events may be added at any time, so be sure you keep an eye on our most recent Program Guide for updates. Flannel Fest | Saturday, September 24, 2016 at 11:00 am – 5:00 pm

All Ages – FREE!

Get your flannel ready and join us for a day of fun fall festivities! Watch the Timberwork’s Lumberjack Show perform demonstrations throughout the day including log rolling, axe throwing, and speed carving. Bemco/Spring Air of Central Illinois will also join us to try to break the world record for human mattress dominoes and then donate all mattresses to shelters in need. Enjoy music, art, games, crafts, food trucks, and much more at this fall event! Buy a mattress to be donated to someone in need here!

All Ages – $5, Tickets required, can be purchased at Douglass Annex or Douglass Community Center.
If you missed last year’s sold-out show, you should plan to attend this year’s Senior Style Show. Come out to see the seniors of Douglass Annex strut their stuff down the runway, a guaranteed good time! This is an event you do not want miss. Please come ‘Dressed to Impress’ to fit this stylish occasion.

Market Place Mall
Ages 11 & under (must be accompanied by an adult) – FREE!
Now in its 31st year, Champaign and Urbana Park Districts, along with Market Place Mall, invite you and your family to join us for this FREE family event! Dress up in your favorite costume and join us for trick-or-treating, games, and a costume contest. Take a walk through our spook-tacularly (family-friendly) Haunted House(line closes at 7:30pm), and don’t forget to bring a bag to collect all your goodies. Event images will post to our Facebook page for you to download, share, and enjoy!

All Ages – $3, children under 2 are free
Join us at the Virginia Theatre for a real holiday treat! Watch Dr. Seuss’ How the Grinch Stole Christmas followed by pictures with Santa, crafts, caroling, and hot chocolate. After the show, enjoy the holiday lights with trolley rides around West Side Park. Tickets available at the door or online at thevirginia.org

santaCalls from Santa | Thursday, December 15 at 6:00 – 8:00 pm

Phones are ringing, children singing – all is merry and bright! Hang your stockings and register soon ‘cause Santa Claus calls tonight! Watch your little one’s eyes light up with the magic of the season when they hear that it’s Santa Claus calling just for them! Calls will be made on Thursday, December 15 beginning at 6p. No calls will be made after 8p. Deadline: Dec 12, 5p

All Ages, children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult – $5|$7.50
Join us for a NEW family event for the holiday season! Enjoy a fun family Christmas non-murder mystery party for all ages (however, under 12 years of age will require some help sleuthing) set at the North Pole! There are 7 required characters and 20 unique players altogether! Holiday-themed food will be provided! Please let us know at registration if you’d like to play a character!

Cultural Arts Events
