Thank you so much for volunteering at the annual Taste of Champaign-Urbana! This year’s event is going to feature some of the area’s best food, drink, arts and crafts, and local music.
The following is a brief guide to volunteering at Taste. All volunteers, first time and veteran, please read. If you have additional questions beyond what is on this document, please contact email@example.com.

We are so appreciative of all of our volunteers. We could not make this event possible without you. Join our volunteer team with family and friends! Sign up here: bit.ly/CUTasteVolunteer19.
Arrival Time and Check-in
All volunteers will check in at Taste Central, located NW of the West Park fountain. Please arrive at least 10 minutes early for your shift(s) for specific shift instructions, pick up your volunteer shirt, and make your way to your scheduled location.
Transportation and Parking
Both State St and Elm St will be closed in the vicinity of West Side Park for the event. We recommend considering CUMTD or carpooling as parking will be limited. Neighborhoods surrounding West Side Park are available, but watch for “No Parking” signs.
Note: ADA parking is available at the Emmanuel Memorial Episcopal Church parking lot. The entrance is on Park Avenue, next to the Virginia Theatre.
Please dress comfortably and appropriately for the weather and wear closed-toed shoes. You will receive a Volunteer Shirt upon arrival to wear during your shift(s)!
The first aid station for participants and volunteers will be located next to Taste Central. However, if you have or witness an emergency, dial 911 right away.
Lost & Found
Lost and found will be located at the Ticket Tent.
Deluxe portable bathrooms will be available throughout West Side Park.
What’s In It for Me?
Along with being a VITAL component of making this annual event possible, we want to make sure you enjoy Taste! Stick around after your shift for great food, great music, and cold beer at the Taste of Champaign-Urbana! All volunteers will receive a volunteer t-shirt, 2 sheets of Taste tickets per shift worked when you sign out, and snacks and drinks throughout your shift.
Your name will also go in the raffle for each shift worked for the chance to win fabulous prizes!
For the third year, CPD will be hosting the Pie Run featuring pies from local business and people running 3.14 miles (get it? Pi – 3.14). We still need volunteers to help with the race too! Those interested can sign up here: bit.ly/PieRunVolunteers. If you sign up to volunteer for the race, you will receive a separate email with race-specific volunteer information.
