CPD is giving 10% of the proceeds brought in from the entrances right back to the nonprofits volunteering with us!  The more hours your organization works, the more money you can make.

The money from the entire weekend is pooled, so everyone is working towards a common goal, regardless of which location you are placed.

Your name will also go in the raffle one time per shift for the chance to win some fabulous prizes!

Thank You!
Thank you so much for volunteering at the annual Taste of Champaign-Urbana! It takes a village to make this event successful, and we invite you to join us. This year we need extra help monitoring entrances/exits, and want to give back to your organization in return.

We are asking nonprofits to volunteer to manage corner entrances during the event on Friday from 5-11pm and Saturday from 11am-11pm. A portion of the total amount of money earned in donations will go to your nonprofit, proportional to the number of hours volunteered.

Entrance Monitors
Entrance monitors hand out event maps, answer questions, and ask for a suggested donation of $5/person. All donations will be put in a locked bin and will be collected by a CPD Staff person throughout the event.
There are 6 entrances that need monitors at all times. Please complete the application form below or use the downloadable application at the top of the page to have your organization considered. 

At any given time there MUST be 2 people present at minimum. If you need to leave your stand, you must have a replacement to maintain the 2-person minimum.

  • All volunteers will check in at Taste Central, located near the corner of Church St & State St across from the bike racks. Please arrive at least 10 minutes early for your shift(s), pick up your volunteer shirt, and make your way to your designated entrance.
  • If you have any issues with patrons, contact a staff member or police officer.  Do not get into an altercation or step in the middle of altercations.

Transportation and Parking
Both State St and Elm St will be closed in the vicinity of West Side Park for the event. We recommend considering CUMTD or carpooling as parking will be limited. Neighborhoods surrounding West Side Park are available, but watch for “No Parking” signs.

Note: ADA parking is available at the Emmanuel Memorial Episcopal Church parking lot. The entrance is on Park Avenue, next to the Virginia Theatre.

Please dress comfortably and appropriately for the weather and wear closed-toed shoes. You will receive a Volunteer Shirt upon arrival to wear during your shift(s)!

First Aid
The first aid station for participants and volunteers will be located next to Taste Central. However, if you have or witness an emergency, dial 911 right away.

Lost & Found
Lost and found will be located at the Ticket Tent.

Deluxe portable bathrooms will be available throughout West Side Park.
