Champaign Park District offers a wide variety of specialty sports including pickleball, fencing, disc golf, and more! We also host a variety of camps and clinics throughout the community.

Project Athletes

3rd-5th Graders

Project Athletes Speed School offers speed, agility, and conditioning training — a place to belong and a team to be a part of.

Join us at the Leonhard Recreation Center as we partner with Project Athletes, a program designed to improve personal athletic ability and personal growth development.

This program includes individualized cross-training, a unique accountability program, and an after-school programming option for students in 3rd-5th grades. Let Project Athletes guide your child on their life journey through positive mentoring.

Ages 7-13

The Champaign Park District and U of I Golf Course have teamed up to provide a Youth Golf Clinic for the community. Experienced and new players welcome! These clinics will focus on developing the proper skills for kids to begin playing the game of golf. The University of Illinois Golf Course is committed to making sure that children have the opportunity to learn, play, and enjoy golf.

Adult Specialty Sports

Ages 13+
En Garde! Add a new twist to your fall schedule by signing up for a six-week introduction to fencing! Participants will learn through footwork, drills, small group instruction, and open fencing with varied adult ages. Fencers should come dressed to work hard in loose clothing (no denim jeans) and tennis shoes. All fencing equipment is provided.

Ages 13+
Leonhard Rec Center will have open-play pickleball starting in August. Join the fun and become a member of LRC to play pickleball for free! Sessions subject to change/cancel due to gym reservations or scheduled programming. Open gym schedule is posted every two weeks on CPD website.

Ages 18+

Enhance your pickleball skills this fall with our first ever Pickleball Skills and Drills Clinics. Clinics will be led by our local pickleball club and all skill levels are welcome. The instructors will focus on the development of pickleball fundaments from drop shots, dinks, overhead smash, to serves, and ball placement. Join the fun and learn a new skill.
