Unplug Illinois Day 2023

In June 2014, the Illinois Park and Recreation Association embarked on a major initiative to develop a state-wide community awareness campaign to educate communities about the value of parks and recreation. This is when “Unplug Illinois” was born. Ditch your electronic devices and unplug on July 15! Below are some ways you can unplug.

TAKE A STROLL ON ONE OF OUR TRAILS

Step outside and get some fresh air! Take a stroll on one of our several trails and observe the nature around you.

HAVE A PICNIC IN THE PARK

Grab your friends and family and have lunch in one of our many parks. Looking to cool off? Swing by a park with a splash pad (Human Kinetics, Hessel and Douglass Park).

FLY A KITE

Flying a kite can help to reduce levels of stress, it can also help with feelings of anxiousness.  Spending time in any way in nature helps to ease the mind and promote better mental health. Grab a kite and go fly it in one of our parks!

CPD COLORING PAGES

Looking for some new coloring sheets? We have some coloring sheets inspired from various Champaign Park District facilities and programs drawn by local artists! Download these coloring pages for free below.

SIDEWALK CHALK ART

Grab a pack of chalk and create artwork for everyone to see! PLEASE NOTE: Be mindful of heavy traffic areas or patrons who cannot go off the path.
