Winter/Spring Events (January – May)

The Champaign Park District offers a wide array of special events throughout the year. Events are listed by season under the “Special Events” tab. New events may be added at any time, so be sure you keep an eye on our most recent Program Guide for updates. From dancing to kite flying, community service to egg hunts, we have the perfect special event for you and your family this spring – so come on out and make some memories with us! Mom Prom 2018: Pirate Edition | Friday, January 19 at 6:00 – 9:00 pm 

Location: Hilton Garden Inn
Cost: $26 per person

Ages: This event is designed for children 12 and under and their parent/guardian
Description: Ahoy there, Matey! Ye be invited to dance, laugh, and play at our Pirate Mom Prom! Event will include a plated table-service dinner with a vegetarian option (must request at time of registration), fun activities, and goodie bag for all the boys. Photo packages will be available for a fee (cash required). Doors open at 5:30p. Guests must be seated promptly at 6p to enjoy all dinner courses. All attendees must provide an email address at registration to receive a pre-event email from event staff. Each person attending must enroll to ensure we have an accurate head count.

Daddy Daughter Dance 2018: Night in Oz | Friday, February 2 at 6:00 – 9:00 pm 

Location: Hilton Garden Inn
Cost: $26 per person

Ages: This event is designed for children 12 and under and their parent/guardian
Description: Follow the yellow brick road for a night of dancing, dinner, and fun for this Wizard of Oz themed event. Event will include a plated table-service dinner with a vegetarian option (must request at time of registration), fun activities, and goodie bag for all the girls. Photo packages will be available for a fee (cash required). Doors open at 5:30p. Guests must be seated promptly at 6p to enjoy all dinner courses. Bunny Brunch 2018 | Saturday, March 24 at 10:00 – 11:30 am

Location: Douglass Community Center
Cost: $4|$6 per person 

Ages: 18+
Description: Join us for our inaugural Bunny Brunch. Enjoy treats and snap a photo with the bunny during brunch, then hunt for eggs in Douglass Park at Eggsploration Pre-registration is required due to limited seating, so don’t delay, sign up today! Children must be accompanied by parent or guardian. Adults must register with their children.

Eggs-ploration! 2018 | Saturday, March 24 at Noon – 1:00 pm (hunt starts promptly at noon)

Ages: Children ages 13 and under. Adult supervision required.
Description: Join us at Douglass Park for a good old-fashioned egg hunt. Join us at Douglass Park for a good old-fashioned egg hunt. We’re hunting in waves this year, with the first egg hunt starting at 12:15p, so don’t be late! Remember your basket for all your goodies. Egg hunt follows the all new Bunny Brunch.

Fetch! Pet Care Hoppin’ Hound Egg Hunt 2018 | Saturday, March 24 at Noon

: Champaign Bark District
Cost (R|NR): FREE!|$5. Spectators are free! All dog park rules apply during this event.
Ages: All Ages
Description: Don’t let your pooch feel left out this spring! Bring the whole family to the only egg hunt your pup can enjoy as much as you do. Enjoy treats and refreshments for dogs and humans, activities for the kids, pet photography, and prizes. The hunt starts at noon!

Nite Lite Egg Pursuit 2018 | Friday, March 30 at 8:10 pm

Cost: $10 per person (registration on-site from 7:15-8pm) 
Ages: 18+
Description: Break out your basket, grab your flashlight and prepare your inner child for Nite Lite Egg Pursuit XXV. Join Lite Rock 97.5 WHMS for the opportunity to hunt for eggs filled with prizes. Be on the lookout for the Bronze, Silver and Gold eggs for a chance to win some great prize packages!

Eggs disappear quickly so don’t be late!

Eggstravaganza 2018 | Saturday, March 31 at 10:00 am (hunt starts promptly at 11am)

Location: West Side Park
Cost: FREE!
Ages: Children ages 10 and under.  Adult supervision required.
Description: Join us at West Side Park where thousands of eggs wait to be found. Free hayrack rides will take place before the event from 10a-Noon and there will be a special guest on site for all the little egg hunters to enjoy! Don’t forget your basket – the egg hunt starts at 11a sharp!

Boneyard Creek Community Day 2018 | Saturday, April 7 at 9:00 am – Noon

Description: Looking for a class volunteer project or a new way to bring the family together? Join us in making a difference at one of Champaign-Urbana’s natural treasures. Help restore the beauty of the Boneyard Creek in Champaign, Urbana, and Campus-town by participating in this organized clean-up of the Boneyard Creek. Be on site to register at 9am. Dance Arts Performance 2018: Gems & Jewels | Saturday, April 7 at 7:00 pm & Sunday, April 8 at 2:00 pm

 

Location: Virginia Theatre
Cost: $10 Child under 12, $10 Seniors, $13 Adults

Description: The evening includes the Dance Arts and Isle of Erin dancers performing traditional and contemporary Irish dance, as well as contemporary dance works. 

 

 

Touch-a-Truck Day 2018 |  Wednesday, May 16 at 10:00 am – 1:00 pm

truckLocation: Centennial Park
Cost: FREE!
Ages: Children ages 2-5.  Adult supervision required.
Description: Tots, put your toy trucks away – it’s time to touch the real thing! Climb in, hop on, and honk the horns of some really big trucks and other vehicles during Touch-A-Truck Day! Tow trucks, fire trucks, police cars, and more will be available for kids to explore. Pack a lunch and enjoy a picnic too!
